No. You do not have to be queer or questioning to access our services. Racco Psychotherapy is a queer-affirming clinic. While many of our clients identify within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, we also work with people who are drawn to an affirming, inclusive, and socially aware therapeutic space. What matters most is not your identity, but your willingness to engage in a respectful, reflective, and non-judgmental therapeutic process within an affirming framework.

Pay what you can means you choose a session fee within a set range based on your financial situation. At Racco Psychotherapy, Student Therapists offer a sliding-scale range of $50–$100 per session, while Registered Therapists offer a range of $110–$160 per session. This model is designed to reduce barriers to therapy and make mental health care more accessible, while supporting fair and sustainable compensation for therapists at different stages of training and practice.

Following your initial consultation with your therapist, you will have the option to book your first session. If you choose to proceed, you will be sent an intake form where you can select your preferred pay range within our pay-what-you-can model. This rate is then applied to your account and remains in place for ongoing sessions. We trust clients to choose a rate that reflects their financial situation, and no further questions are asked once your selection has been made.

Yes. Your financial situation can change at any time, and your therapy fee can change with it. We believe accessibility should be flexible and responsive to real life, not fixed or punitive. If you need to adjust your session rate, you can do so at any time by emailing RaccoPsychotherapy@gmail.com. No explanation or justification is required.

This depends entirely on your needs, preferences, and budget. We can help guide you during intake or a consultation to determine the best fit for your care. That said, here are some general guidelines: Choose an Intern Therapist if: You are looking for a more accessible fee range and are comfortable working with a therapist in supervised clinical training. Intern therapists are completing Master’s-level clinical education and provide therapy under close clinical supervision. They bring strong engagement, curiosity, and current training in evidence-informed approaches, while receiving ongoing support from a senior clinician. Choose an Associate Therapist if: You are looking for a therapist with more post-graduate clinical experience. Associate therapists offer a higher level of independent clinical judgment while still engaging in ongoing consultation or supervision as part of ethical practice. They are well-suited for clients seeking support with a broad range of concerns, including more complex or longstanding issues.

Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. A late cancellation or missed session prevents another client from being able to use that time slot. We require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. If less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, or if you miss your appointment, the full session fee will be charged. We encourage you to contact us as soon as you know you are unable to attend so we can reschedule your session and offer the time slot to another client.

At this time, Racco Psychotherapy does not offer in-person sessions. All therapy sessions are conducted virtually through the Jane platform.

We do not offer direct billing to insurance companies and operate on a “pay and reimburse” model. After each session, you will receive a receipt containing all the necessary information required to submit a claim to your insurance provider. If your insurance plan covers services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist or a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), you may be eligible for reimbursement. However, we are unable to guarantee coverage or review individual insurance policies. We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider prior to beginning therapy to confirm your coverage for psychotherapy services.
